Chinese Spoons

Chinese spoons are a very specific type of cutlery consisting of a straight handle with what we might call a mini bowl. Sometimes this liquid-collecting part starts from the handle so that as much of it as possible can be used to scoop both the liquid and solid portions of Asian dishes. We say "Asian" because, although we typically see them in Chinese restaurants, we also find them in soups, especially Japanese ones like ramen, which consists of fish broth, nori seaweed, bamboo shoots fermented in a special recipe, and spring onions, accompanied by Chinese noodles and various garnishes. We explain this to demonstrate the usefulness of Chinese spoons when it comes to scooping the liquid, long noodles, and solid portions at the same time, since a Western spoon, like the ones we're used to seeing, couldn't hold so many elements at the same time or a significant amount of broth.
