WeForest is a non-profit organisation that aims to combat climate change through the restoration and conservation of forests around the world. The organisation works with local communities, organisations and companies to grow and protect forests and trees, and promote sustainable practices that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and preserve biodiversity.

Garcia de Pou is involved in one of its projects, the reforestation and protection of the interior Atlantic Forest of Brazil. These forests are important because they are home to a great biodiversity. In addition, forests also play a key role in mitigating climate change by absorbing and storing carbon. In this project, the NGO also promotes sustainable agricultural and livestock practices to reduce pressure on forests and supports communities in their transition to greener economic models.

WeForest aims to grow millions of trees and hundreds of thousands of hectares of forests in the coming years, thus contributing to the fight against climate change and the protection of wildlife and natural resources. The organisation uses sustainable technologies and practices in its projects and works with the local community.

WeForest works with a wide range of partners, including non-governmental organisations, businesses and governments, to deliver its reforestation and forest conservation projects around the world. Collaboration with different stakeholders is crucial to the success of WeForest projects, as it allows the organisation to leverage the strengths and resources of each partner to achieve its goals.

García de Pou is a leading manufacturer of non-food single-use products for the hotel and catering sector. We supply to more than 60 countries, with a production plant of 17,500 m2 and warehouses of 52,550 m2. But at García de Pou we are much more than that.

We are a company committed to caring for the environment and we strive to offer increasingly sustainable solutions to the HORECA sector. These values define us and position us in the sector, which is reflected in the quality of our more than 6000 references and the loyalty of our more than 25,000 customers. The collaboration with WeForest© stems precisely from this environmental awareness.

At García de Pou we have been analysing our industrial processes for years in order to reduce, as far as possible, the environmental footprint generated. We have ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, which allows us to identify the key aspects to guarantee the highest quality service and the areas of impact on the environment, in order to create continuous improvement objectives and an action plan to achieve them.

We also select suppliers certified with the same Environmental Management Systems. We use sustainable, recyclable and/or compostable materials. We have a wide range of ECOLABEL certified products, which guarantee a high level of environmental protection throughout their life cycle. We manufacture some products with 100% recycled paper and we have FSC® and PEFC® certificates, which guarantee that the products come from responsibly and sustainably managed forests.

In 2023, we also installed a new network of solar panels, with the aim of achieving energy self-sufficiency, not depending on energy generated by fossil fuels and contributing to the reduction of our carbon footprint. Small steps with which we will try to leave a better world to those who come after us.
