García de Pou is bringing you something new. As part of our goal to stay on the cutting edge of technology and innovation, we have bought ourselves a new piece of kit. However, this is not simply another machine for our production lines but rather one aimed at improving the experience of our customers. It is a camera that allows us to show our products in a 360º panoramic image. It is no ordinary camera but rather an entire photography studio squeezed into a small box that allows us to create professional packshots (product images) and 360º product presentations.

On a touchscreen device, any image obtained using this camera allows total visual control of a product using your fingertips and some intuitive gestures. One can only be impressed by the quality and depth of the image as they seem to come alive before your very eyes. We’re not exaggerating, no word of a lie. As the name suggests, 360º means the chance to enjoy content not only in the way captured by a conventional camera / eyeball (the human eye perceives almost 180 degrees of image but only focuses on a small part of that field of view) but by passing around, over, underneath, etc. In other words: 360º around the featured object.

Panoramic photos are a partial recreation of 180 degrees: the superimposition of images into a large horizontal photograph to give us a better perception of a wider field of view. However, 360º content goes beyond that: you can also see what is going on behind, above and below the camera.

The most famous example of images taken in 360º is surely Google Street View. Users can see what lies in front of them but also move the camera to see what there is beside them. That is how we want our customers to see our products. À la Google Street View.

We have an extensive range of images in our catalogue taken with this new technology and our goal is to soon make this the standard for most of our product images.
