Poke surfs into our Bionic and Areca bowls

It seems like everyone who wants a date has to get one on the Internet. Naturally, this offers a great opportunity to make a surprising first impression. You’ve never seen each other before. You can’t get it wrong… Of course, surprising someone often means having to be original or cutting edge. Perhaps you’ve decided – or better said, managed – to get a dinner date and you suggest going for Poke to take away or eat at a restaurant.

Poke? Yes, poke. A new trend? Maybe. Or perhaps it’s here to stay, like South American ceviche. More and more people are enjoying ceviche and now its competitor has arrived: Poke. And it’s arriving on a surfboard… because it’s from Hawaii. Like ceviche, its base is made from raw diced and marinated fish. It’s a typical fisherman’s dish from the Pacific islands that can be complemented in many different ways: with avocado, rice, quinoa, seaweed, mango, cucumber, lettuce, edamame… and topped off with a sauce – soya sauce is a good choice but there are many options. The combinations are limited only by your imagination and it’s a very complete and healthy dish.

The Poke is one of the main dishes in the Hawaian cuisine.

Poke (which means “to slice” or “cut crosswise into pieces” in Hawaiian) is served in bowls like the ones you can find in our catalogue under the FeelGreen brand: the Bionic Bowl (made from bagasse) and the Areca Bowl (made from palm leaves). Both are strong and lightweight, as well as entirely waterproof. But that’s not all; they are also biodegradable and compostable, meaning they can be used as fertiliser after two months.

The Bionic Bowl is just one example from our Bionic line, with which we offer a whole range of eco products that can withstand temperatures from -18ºC up to 150ºC (suitable for microwaves). In turn, the Areca Bowl maintains the look and feel of palm leaves to produce disposable tableware without sacrificing elegance and characteristic style. Areca products are suitable for up to two minutes in the microwave and a maximum of 90 seconds at 180ºC in the oven.

The Areca dinner service offers a high resistance and an elegant natural finish.

So now you have your surprising Poke and a container in which to serve it, but you need an original topic of conversation beyond the classics and to demonstrate that you’re a curious and interesting person. We recommend summarising the life of Princess Kaʻiulani, a total legend of Hawaiian history who didn’t exactly have a happy ending.

Now all you need to do is discretely signal the waiter to put on a romantic song or press play on one yourself if you’ve arranged to meet at home. To get in the right mood, why not try the ukulele version of “Somewhere over the Rainbow” by Hawaiian singer Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwo’ole while you talk about Princess Kaʻiulani?

The Bionic bowls are perfect to display a large variety of dishes.

Now you’re on top of the world or, better said, on the crest of a wave like any good surfer, and sure that between the bowls, the food, the conversation and the music, it’ll be practically impossible for your date to end like Pearl Harbour – in other words, bruised and sunk. Enjoy your meal and good luck.
