HOW IS HALLOWEEN CELEBRATED IN OTHER COUNTRIES

In the United States and Canada, Halloween has turned into the second most lucrative campaign of the year apart from Christmas. As we are seeing more events and holidays related to Halloween in Europe, so there is a growing number of consumers who demand specific products to celebrate it. You will find a variety of items specially designed for Halloween in our Catalogue.

In an older article, we explained the origin of this festivity, explaining why pumpkins were used, and why we get dressed up for Halloween. Little by little this Anglo-saxon tradition is infiltrating young Europeans, who find October 31 a perfect excuse to throw or to attend a party. We want to explain now, how Halloween has been celebrated in countries where this tradition is more deep-rooted.

HALLOWEEN IN IRELAND

Irish imigrants introduced the United States to their celebration of the Christian cult of death, All Hallow’s Eve in the XVIIIth century. Little by little this Christian cult evolved into the type of holiday that we know today. Halloween is celebrated in Ireland with fancy dress, children collecting sweets and decorating places with pumpkins. But there are still remains of the ancient and ancestral Samhain when people gather on the evening of October the 31st around a bonfire, as protection from ghosts.

HALLOWEEN IN ENGLAND

In London, for example, around the second fortnight of October, many leisure and tourist businesses organise parades, thematic parties, exhibitions, tours, contests and gastronomic menus with fear and the death as a main theme. And so, it’s possible to travel on the Bus of Terror, to enjoy night visits in museums full of terrifying surprises, to visit the most creepy places of the city and to eat special menus with plates that resemble, for example, amputated fingers. Terror as a controlled experience attracts a large number of clients.

HALLOWEEN IN CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES

Halloween is celebrated in a very similar ways in both countries. Parades, thematic activities, guided tours and different themed events of fear and death take place in the whole country and throughout October. The most significant thing in both countries is that the UNICEF Trick-or-treat campaign has become a tradition, which has been collecting approximately 3 million dollars per year since the 50’s; children ring doorbells asking for sweets and a donation to the characteristic orange UNICEF moneybox.

In Spain and many other European countries, more and more families join the American style Halloween celebrations. You will find special disposable products for the occasion in our shops and catalogue. Get all items easily with our Party Packs. Have a look!
