Irish imigrants introduced the United States to their celebration of the Christian cult of death, All Hallow’s Eve in the XVIIIth century. Little by little this Christian cult evolved into the type of holiday that we know today. But there are still remains of the ancient and ancestral Samhain when people gather on the evening of October the 31st around a bonfire, as protection from ghosts.
